With the growing consumerism of people, you know that the amount of items that are bought everyday is increasing day by day. This means more packaging is being used to ship these items or move these items. Initially no one really cared regarding the kind of packaging used, but not anymore. People are aware how these packaging options are often hazardous to the environment. That is exactly why more and more companies and professional packers are getting conscious and moving towards becoming eco friendly when packaging their items.

The main trick is to use such a material that is eco-friendly. Use packages that can be recycled and reused. Do not pack up something in such a way that during unpacking you would have to tear it off to bits. That way one package cannot be used for something else. You could also get decorative packaging that would discourage the consumers to throw the package away. You can also use lighter materials for packaging which is a lesser burden to the environment. Using recycled packages is an even better option.

Solar energy and hydro power are of course resources that can serve all our problems if tapped and made commercially viable, another option is the GTL (Gas-to-liquid) diesel fuel, this is a non-explosive fuel and an excellent source of energy. LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) is another frozen alternative energy source. Remember it is your planet, and oil and coal are not produced as fast as we deplete them. Safe Ways to Control Pests

Posted In: Green Home Improvement by greenerimpact

Controlling pests can be a daunting task but you can accomplish it by following few steps listed below:

Firstly, clean your home and keep it dry. Insects creep into your home in search of food and water. So empty garbage bins regularly and keep food away in containers or refrigerators.

Seal all cracks and crevices in and around your home with silicone caulk and cover up holes in your home if you have any. Do not stack firewood or debris closer to the exteriors to prevent insects from entering.

Vacuum regularly to get rid of bugs and you may even lay traps.

Use non-volatile products to get rid of insects, e.g. boric acid. Use products that kill the insects without harming the environment and inmates of the house.

While employing these strategies, remember never to dump pesticides in garbage bags or riverbeds etc. Follow precautions closely and keep them away from children.

    Go Green in the Bathroom

Posted In: Green Home Improvement by greenerimpact

Yes, you can even go green in your bathroom! Not by painting it green but by using water judiciously and using eco friendly products. Here are some ways:

    • Install low flow showerheads, dual flush toilet and low faucet aerator. This will slow down water wastage yet flow would be strong.
    • Use green products for cleaning your bathroom sink, tops, tubs and toilets. There are many available in the market or you can even use natural ones like vinegar, lemon juice, baking soda, essential oils for that matter. You can look for cleaning tips online!
    • Also take care while flushing the toilet. A lot of water is wasted in a single flush; so dual flush toilet is great. Better to cover the lid in order to prevent bacteria from settling down. Use toilet paper that has been recycled.

Natural cleaners are great for disinfecting your toilet, so abstain from toxic chemicals.
