Geothermal energy emanates from the earth, infact 3 to 4 km below the earth, where rocks are heated up due to various changes. Water that comes in contact with it also gets heated up and generates electricity. This system can be engineered to produce electricity that is renewable. This is called artificial geothermal energy and it also has no adverse effect on the planet.

In this process, wells are drilled into rocks with the help of oil convectional drills. It is much deeper than natural geothermal systems but with almost similar temperature (160-600 degrees F. with a high pressure pump, water is forced into the rocks via cracks and crevices. With similar process like the natural one, water gets heated up and transformed into steam that drives turbine. Then with the help of injection wells and production wells, electricity is produced after a series of procedures. This can be done anywhere but there are also certain risks involved that cannot be ignored.
